Visit to Nottingham Contemporary – Thursday 27th November 2014

As the Intensive ESOL course includes cultural awareness, I thought that a visit to Nottingham Contemporary might be interesting for the students. None of them had been there before or heard of it.

We were met at the gallery by Jason and the students introduced themselves. Jason talked to us about the current exhibition and the artists, one Swiss and one Polish.  We then looked around the various exhibits / installations. Some of the material was in video form. The students each had a word search sheet and we related the words (nouns and adjectives) to the various exhibits. Some students suggested words of their own.  We watched a couple of the videos, the one with Polish narration being the most popular with some students!

All students said that they enjoyed the visit and Jason told them about the many free activities that are available at the gallery, so I hope that some of the students will return at a later date.
