Heather’s Story

WEA East Midlands EME Blog

This is an inspiring story about how one student has progressed over the years to achieve great things.

She has updated me recently about what she has been up to:

Last year I decided to take my learning journey to a whole new level and passed my FA level 1 football coach badge and goalkeeping badge. I now coach and manager a local under 12’s football team. I have to say it’s my biggest and most scariest achievement to date !!”

“Before I came to class I didn’t know much about numbers.  I thought maths was really low and bad.

When I joined the class I felt I had a warm welcome.  Being in this class I didn’t understand much about numbers and I used to get upset.

I can now understand basic numbers and different maths methods.  I am better at adding and take-aways now.

What I’m going to do now is practise at home what I learn in the class.

Coming to this class has made me feel more confident with my numbers and a big thank you to my teacher, Penny, for her warm support.”

“Before I came to class I found maths to be quite hard as I’m not really good at it.  I thought maths was boring.

When I joined the class I felt really welcome – warm atmosphere.

Being in this class has made me more confident around others.  I can now be more confident with numbers.  I am better at working out numbers.

What I’m going to do now is keep doing all the above.

Coming to this class has made me feel more confident in myself.”
